our story

Since our beginning in 1974, we have passionately lived our mission of creating homes in which adults with and without intellectual disabilities share life together. 

Through these 48 years operating as L’Arche Mobile, Inc., we have grown into a strong community, able to provide life and love to individuals with an intellectual disability and their families. 

With our new name,

 First Light Community of Mobile, we will continue our mission of sharing life for another 50 years.

 Our mission is to create community by sharing life together. We seek to contribute to a world that recognizes the unique value of every person.

We celebrate diversity and believe everyone has a gift to share.

Our community has six homes located in the historic districts of Midtown Mobile. 

We have community members who have lived with us since the beginning.  

Our Team and Board members have long-term commitments to sharing in our mission.
